I believe we can all benefit from counseling at various times in our lives; to reconnect with ourselves, loved ones, our communities and environments. My approach is rooted in person-centered therapy. This is a non-directive approach rooted in empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruent behavior. Together, we will foster authentic growth through the nonjudgmental, compassionate identification of imbalance in your life. As your counselor, I will not have answers for you. Rather, I will hold sacred space and assist you in identifying your presenting problems, your strengths, and a path towards healing.
I believe that counseling happens at your own pace and that it is participatory. I am open to humor in counseling. I may laugh with you, and I may cry with you. My first priority is to establish a safe therapeutic relationship and collaborate with you to identify appropriate counseling goals. Then, depending on your concerns and preferences, I will listen and be present with you as you work towards your goals.
My therapeutic approach is holistic/integrative, drawing from several different counseling theories including cognitive theory with a humanistic perspective. I incorporate CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), IPT (Interpersonal Therapy) and Mindfulness practices/interventions into my services. I am in the process of completing my PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health Certification) through Postpartum Support International, and also strive to acquire my EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) certification to better support my clients.
It takes strength to explore the things in life that cause us great discomfort. I am inspired and amazed by the opportunity for growth and healing when individuals enter into counseling courageously. I encourage you to reach out if you would like to increase self-awareness, reconnect with your authentic self, break unhealthy cycles and heal from past hurts. Let me walk beside you in your journey.

Meg offers a variety of counseling services including individual therapy, perinatal therapy, couples/support sessions, and outdoor/walk and talk therapy.
During your first session with me, I will ask you questions to get to know you better and understand what brings you to counseling. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the counseling process.
A counseling session with Meg usually lasts 50 minutes, although session length may vary depending on your specific needs and preferences.
